Some Notes on Employee Wellness Programs

National Employee Health and Fitness Day
Are you doing enough for your employees' health?

May 21st has been declared "National Employee Health and Fitness Day" to promote employee wellness and health.  Sponsored by the National Association of Health and Fitness, it is a day for employers to encourage coworkers to move more, eat less, and get healthy.  Some companies are taking it a step further and implementing Employee Wellness Programs to promote these behaviors year-round.

For some ideas of activities your company can participate in on Wednesday, visit the America on the Move website.  Another good resource is The President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, where you can find more information about the new "Presidential Adult Fitness Test" announced just last week.

Have you considered implementing an Employee Wellness Program for your business?  With medical insurance rates rising at an alarming rate each year, it's becoming a trend among small and large businesses alike. And to many businesses owners, improving the health of their employees is an easy way to help shrink the increases. According to this article from BusinessWeek, companies all over the country are offering healthier fare in their cafeterias and break rooms, with some even charging a "calorie tax" when employees purchase unhealthy foods.  Other issues an Employee Wellness Program can address include smoking cessation, exercise initiatives, and weight loss programs.

Century II can help your business implement an Employee Wellness Program--additionally, we may be able to save you money by managing your benefits program, workers' compensation, and payroll.  Give Kelly Roy or Julie Boone a call today at 615-665-9060 for a FREE HR evaluation.
